Unicorn Nail Art

Here at ORLY UK we’ve been obsessed with all things unicorn since they exploded into fashion, so we definitely aren’t going to ignore unicorn nail art in our favourite Halloween nail designs! This cute unicorn Halloween nail art, is for the more experienced nail lovers. For this Halloween nail art we’d recommend using ORLY GelFX and ORLY GelFX Builder In A Bottle to create a magical 3D unicorn horn design, if you decide to use ORLY nail polish you can still create a fade horn really easily!

Step 1.

Prep the nails and extend them using ORLY GelFX Builder In A Bottle (if you choose not to extend the nails, prep and apply ORLY GelFX Vitamin Infused Base Coat)

Paint the index finger nail with two coats of ORLY GelFX White Tips gel polish.

Step 2.

Dip a thin detail brush into ORLY GelFX Liquid Vinyl gel polish and draw two open triangles for your unicorn's ears and flash cure under the ORLY LED Smart Lamp (this isn't applicable if you're using nail polish).

Step 3.

Using your thin brush and Liquid Vinyl gel polish or nail polish, draw two curved lines to make the unicorn's eyes. Flash cure to prevent the gel polish from moving.

Step 4.

Add tiny eyelashes using your thin detailing brush and ORLY Liquid Vinyl, remember to flash cure if you're using GelfX!

Step 5.

Dip your brush into ORLY GelFX Lift The Veil and fill in the ears, flash curing between coats.

Step 6.

Use a small dotting tool and add random dots over your unicorn's eyes to make a cute flower crown. We used ORLY GelFX Gumdrop, ORLY GelFX Lift The Veil and ORLY GelFX Scenic Route

Step 7.

Finish your cute Halloween unicorn nail art with a detail brush dipped in ORLY GelFX Rage. Draw a small tapered line in between the ears for a glitzy finish to your Unicorn face.

Step 8.

For your 3D unicorn horn, start by applying a diagonal third of ORLY GelFX Gumdrop gel polish.

Step 9.

Gently sponge the ORLY GelFX Gumdrop gel polish colour down to create a fade.

Flash cure.

Top tip: You can use any sponge to create your fade, we'd recommend using a makeup sponge

Step 10.

Repeat with ORLY GelFX Scenic Route, remember to sponge the colour down and flash cure in between coats

Step 11.

Finish your fade with ORLY GelFX Lift The Veil gel polish.

Step 12.

Apply ORLY GelFX Topcoat to your fade and cure.

Step 13.

To create a 3D unicorn horn, apply a 'sausage' of ORLY GelFX Builder In A Bottle (you might find it easier to use a thin detailing brush to pick up the product and apply to the nail) and freeze cure. Repeat, leaving tiny gaps between and making sure to flash cure each 'sausage'.

Step 14.

Glitz up your magical unicorn nail art by painting the thumb, middle and pinky finger with two coats of ORLY GelFX Feel The Funk gel polish.

Finish with a coat of ORLY GelFX Topcoat.
